If anyone says, "I love God," yet hates his brother, he is a liar. For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen. ~ 1 John 4:20
Hatred is never something to go out of one's way to pursue... it is something that should never be pursued, period, regardless of whether you are a Biblical Christian or not. Hatred is immature, unproductive, and satisfies no one. It is just a waste of your time and a personal offense to whomever you are so busy despising. Of course, one could ignore the hatred of others, but it can be extreme at times...
But... grudges amongst followers of Christ? Last I checked, hatred is a serious matter: it is not just something that you should let into your life because you are strongly dissatisfied with the actions and/or thoughts of another. It is much more than a little, angry feeling, it is a terrible concept produced by the unsoundness of an uncontrolled mind. One should never abhor a fellow Christian, nor should one ever abhor a person of any other religion (or lack there of). There is no justified reason to ever hate someone, and if you have to hate something, hate the evil, not the evil-doer.
Hatred is a secular characteristic of corrupt, prideful, foolish, arrogant mankind, not one of God's traits. If a Christian is to try to follow Christ's example, then what sort of repugnant hypocrisy is the harbouring of aversion?
When one gets right down to the basic, fundamental point, hatred and its consequential anger issues are beyond the "polar opposite" of Christian qualities, as is emphasized in many verses of the Bible, God's Holy Word. We are to "Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice," (Ephesians 4:31) not shelter such fruitless emotions and foster our animosity. In honest adherence to God's commands, we should instead long to "Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honour the king." (1 Peter 2:17)

I believe Jesus Christ is my saviour. "Jesus answered, 'I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.'" ~ John 14:6
I love it, it's so true...Many people do not realize its a sin.

Thank you; unfortunately, yes, many people overlook it, but hatred plays a prominent role in the suffering that is brought about in the world. :[ ^ ^

Interesting concept, since I'm sorta having this problem currently with my teacher (but I don't hate her, just am very frustrated in the way she teaches.)
Thanks for the reminder (and encouragement!)

You are welcome, and I am glad that this is of help to you.
Hmm... Well, unfortunately, I cannot empathize because I have never had a particularly bad teacher in my entire life; in fact, I assume that most of the time, the "bad" teachers are just misunderstood or pushed to the point of being disliked because of the misbehavior of the students. That is what I have always observed, anyway, but I am sure there are some teachers out there who are genuinely mean.
I'm kind of weird in that I just... really like and respect teachers beyond what most people normally do. I earnestly appreciate the work they do and feel inspired by their tolerance and desire to help their pupils. I can see that they are often working very hard and when they seem angry, it is because they get frustrated by people not taking on their responsibilities or showing decent respect. I remember one time (8th grade) when everyone was having a rough week in my science class: the teacher was being a bit cranky throughout the week, nearly the entire class forgot to turn in a certain book on time (including myself that time) and ended up with a sort of detention, and so on. However, the person who seemed to be having it the roughest of all was the teacher; I could see how sad/disappointed and stressed she was underneath the anger she showed. I felt very sorry for the pressure she was going through. After all, the teacher has a lot more work to do than the student, and who knows what sort of struggles the teacher might also be dealing with in their personal life/family. On the Friday of that week, I was the last student leaving the class (as always even to this day in all of my classes), and I very warmly wished her, "Please do have a good weekend." She sounded so grateful and overjoyed to hear that; I could feel the happiness within her when she said "Thank you," and I finally got to see her smile after so long. Saying that must have been particularly special to her under the circumstances since one would not expect to hear such words from someone who has been a victim of one's anger. That little bit of compassion and respect is all she really needed.
Anyway, try to liberate yourself of that frustration and instead look for a respectful, calm state of mind. ...And if the teacher's teaching methods do not have to do with meanness/carelessness, then I apologize for not addressing the issue.
